Northland-Rural Therapy Associates, LLC, (NRTA) formerly operated
as two agencies, Northland Speech and Hearing, providing speech and
language services, and Rural Therapy Services, providing occupational
and physical therapies. Both agencies had been in business for 10 +
years. These two companies merged in May 2004 and Maureen Russell,
former director of Rural Therapy, became director of NRTA. As of July
1, 2011 Tom and Shannon Cosner bought NRTA from Maureen.
Maureen remains on as a consultant and an OT. Tom is now the
Owner/Director and Shannon is the Owner/Business Manager. The
Cosners have worked with Maureen for the past 11 years. Shannon and
Tom look forward to continuing to offer the high quality of therapies
and the excellent level of service that people have come to expect from
NRTA currently contracts with approximately 35 schools which
include public schools, charter and grant schools, and schools under the
direction of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Home, clinic and community
based services are provided through the Division of Developmental
Disabilities, the Arizona Early Intervention Program, private insurance
and self-pay. Hospital and home health care services for adults are
provided on a limited basis.
Our mission is to provide quality speech, occupational, physical and
music therapy that is innovative and practical to individuals with special
needs in home, school, clinic and community settings.
Provide individuals with the skills to become independent and to
participate fully in their homes, schools and communities.
Assist individuals in developing skills using best practices which
consider abilities, needs, culture and personal preferences.
Provide a work environment which supports and nurtures development
of professional skills, competency, creativity, personal growth and
compassion for others.
Create a therapy practice which is sustainable and financially healthy.
Be an organization which is an integral part of Northern Arizona
communities providing expertise and partnership with other agencies in
serving individuals with special needs.
